I have had Kimble Solar install Air2Air heat pumps, solar panels and batteries. I can totally recommend Kimble, all of their trades have been excellent and ensured a high quality result. The Air2Air (air conditioning) required holes to be drilled in each of the rooms. The installers cleared up after themselves and no further vacuuming was required. A very neat installation. The solar panel installers did a neat job centring the panels on each roof space and attaching anti-bird netting closing the gaps between panels and roof. The electricians installing the inverter and battery stacks and wiring everything up did a neat job. The equipment is neatly laid out and the wiring between it all and the consumer units is very neat and tidy. The technical design person was very patient and took into account my requirements and changing views on what the emergency power supply outlet from the inverter should power. The final result is exactly what I wanted.

North Oxfordshire customer Having looked at solar in the autumn of 2025 I couldn’t decide which company to go with so I dropped the idea for the time being. In early 2026 I did another search for solar companies and was recommended 3 companies to look at including Kimble Solar which had been awarded Which? 2025 renewable installer of the year. This was where the Kimble journey started. An appointment was made with Brent in February who spent several hours doing a complete survey, including a drone of the roof and a presentation of what could be done including costs and potential production and returns from the system. For my consumption, it was suggested that 8 panels would suffice but I decided to fill the roof with 14 panels along with 6Kwh inverter and a 9.04Kwh battery. Scaffold went up by Maguire’s Scaffolding and the installation took place in mid April. Jason and Manny were on the roof and Ash and Mark installing the electrical work. All was completed by mid afternoon so it was up and running. Everyone was hard working leaving everything tidy on completion and they were all pleasant people to have around. It is now 4 months since the installation and it is producing far more than Brent’s calculation but it has been clear and sunny. The office team were always available keeping me informed all the way through even beyond installation and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone involved from start to finish were excellent. I therefore have no hesitation in recommending all at Kimble Solar

AC, Solar and Battery Installation An end of life gas boiler, the summer heat waves we have been suffering during the last few summers and a desire to stop burning gas led me to air2air heat pumps. For a while I have also wanted to install solar panels and batteries which will help reduce my energy bills and maybe send them negative. I found recommendations for Kimble through a couple of routes and as they were the Which? Solar Installers 2025 they seemed a safe pair of hands. This turned out to be the case. They installed the AC just before the second 2026 heat wave and ensured that it was powered up and commissioned just in time so as far as I am concerned there was only one heat wave this year! The solar was only completed at the end of July, the cause being the battery and inverter supplier not being able to meet demand for the new product. From first contact to last all the Kimble people have been extremely professional, the installers have taken pride in their work, for example aligning the panels so that they are centred on the roof. The electricians ensured the wires were as hidden as possible and all neatly routed. They all cleared up leaving no mess, no vacuuming required after they had left. The office staff and design experts were very patient, ensuring that the system met my needs and would work as required. I am now enjoying a cool house during this heat, powered by the sun. It is also nice to see my car charging on excess solar. I highly recommend Kimble.

We followed advice and found 3 companies on "Solar Sherpa". Of the 3, Kimble impressed us on the design for our east / west facing roof, time taken producing the optimal use of our roof space rather than a standard solution photoshopped onto the property. We also choose the more expensive Sigen inverter + battery, very neat with options for future expansion and excellent information on the app. Kimble work very much as a team providing a very professional service. Everyone I've met or spoken to from sales, installation, support and the scaffolders have been friendly and very good at their jobs. I definately recommend using Kimble.

Kimble were very easy to deal with throughout the full process. After my initial contact they promptly came to carry out a detailed survey. Brent listened to what my ideas were whilst also making good suggestions and what I might like to consider. He quickly put together a detailed proposal and quote. There was no pressure to respond quickly. He answered the quereies I had very quickly and simply. Once I had decided to go with Kimble the it all went very smoothly. They booked in the Installation and also the days when the scaffolding would go up and down and then stuck to these dates. They showed great felxibilty when we were let down by another contractor which meant that not all the scaffolding could go up when planned. The guys who came to install the panels and carry out the electrical work were very nice and friendly. The work was carried out as planned and everything was done very neatly and the work area left very tidy and clean. The team answered all my queries and showed me how to operate the system (not much to do other than control the battery). They provide a contact for any follow up queries you might have (so far I have not needed to use it so can not comment how responsive they are but considering how responsive they have been so far I have no reason to believe this would be any different). They all over a review of how your sytem in performing once it has been up and running for a month or so. Overall I am very happy with my installation.

With so many solar installers out there, choosing the right one can be challenging. I decided it was time to move forward and shortlisted six companies with a set of questions. Out of those six, I requested four quotes — some never turned up, and others didn’t even come out to measure. Kimble Solar were my top choice from the start, and they absolutely delivered. They arrived when promised, offered clear advice, and completed the installation quickly and cleanly. We’re very happy with the technology we chose (Sigenergy) and with the service Kimble provided. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again and highly recommend them.

An excellent local company offering a high level of professionalism throughout the entire buying and install process I did a lot of research on solar install options for our 5 bedroom house. I had heard and read of many poorly installed solar systems with high pressure sales teams, poor or just plain wrong technical knowledge and terrible post install customer service. You want to avoid this at all costs! This was a significant investment in our future energy costs and energy security. I really liked that Kimble were a Which award winning supplier that would have been properly vetted and had all the necessary certifications. I went to see Chris the MD speak at a local energy seminar and was impressed with his knowledge and his approach. I am a bit of a stickler on detail and process and found Kimble to be a breadth of fresh air. They were professional throughout and you could see they had a good back office team as well as a non pushy salesperson. We went through a few iterations on the cost options but finally landed on a 17 panel with 29KW of battery storage & 10KW Inverter alongside a Gateway (EPS). I opted for the batteries to be stored in the garage so that they could perform better in the depths of winter. Kimble dug a trench from the main house out to the garage and did a lovely neat job. The installation team were excellent - they were tidy, professional, knowledgeable and courteous. I liked Kimble's post installation customer service option. Their help desk is very good and I used a few times in the early days. I would whole heartedly recommend Kimble Solar.

I reached out to Kimble Solar because of my Solar and Battery needs, and the SigEnergy system was the main reason. The process was quite smooth, with Arlo visiting the site to take photos, have a chat and confirm everything. After that, we got a quote and accepted it. A few weeks later, Benji came to do a cable route site survey and figure out how my solar panels and battery would work together wire-wise. The team is incredibly professional, always keeping me in the loop and handling the tricky stuff, like getting in touch with my DNO and arranging scaffolding and calling to schedule the solar installation (which took just two days). We had Matt and Craig, and they were fantastic! Setting up the app was easy, and then we were all set to go, with solar power ringing the house! I’m really happy with the service Kimble Solar provided and would definitely recommend them. I’m even thinking about adding another battery module with them!

Your Questions, Answered

Solar panels typically don't work during a power cut in the UK unless they are combined with a battery storage system or if they are not grid-tied.

Grid-tied systems switch off during a power outage is for safety reasons, so even if the sun is shining and your panels are generating electricity during a power outage, you won’t be able to use it.

If you have a battery, depending on the brand and type of battery, you can often still use a 3 pin plug connected to the battery to charge your phone, for example, but it won’t power your entire house as usual.

You can install a solar PV system which can continue powering your home regardless of power outages, but these systems are far more expensive, so you need to weigh up the frequency of power cuts, how crucial an energy feed into your home is (eg if you have critical life support machinery in use), and the added cost. For the average family, it generally isn’t worth it.

Many of our customers find that they can cover approximately 70-90% of their household needs with solar power alone. However, the exact figure depends heavily on your energy usage, the number of panels you opt to install and the wattage of the panels. Other factors such as shading, weather, time of year and cleanliness of the panels also play a role.

As an example, 10 solar panels with a power rating of 400 watts can produce around 3,400 kWh of electricity per year.

For a detailed overview of what your home could achieve, please get in touch with our team on hello@kimbletech.com.

This depends on what you choose for your home, but generally, average systems cost £8,000 and up, with an average installation cost of £14,000. However, every home is unique, as is the requirements and goals of the homeowner. So our team at Kimble Solar will work with you to find the best solution for you.

It’s also worth noting that there are finance packages available to help you pay for your system if required.

It’s becoming increasingly obvious that solar panel systems can in fact increase the value of your home. They can be a great feature for buyers looking for energy-efficient homes and to live in a home with significantly lower running costs. Many studies have proven that homes with solar panels sell more quickly and for higher prices than those without. However, the exact amount of value added will depend on factors such as the location, size, and age of the system, as well as the local property market.

Different studies quote different increases in value, but the general outlook is very positive. One study concluded that installing panels will increase the value of your home by approximately 50% of the installation cost. If this is the case, then this instantly halves the payback time!

We will arrange a date with suits you, and 1-2 days prior, the scaffolders will arrive to erect scaffolding if required.

Our team will arrive on the selected day and install the solar panels. This usually takes 1 day on average residential properties but can take longer on larger or more complicated residential jobs, or on commercial jobs.

Whilst the solar panel installation team are at work on the roof, the electrician team will start installing the cable routes, the inverter and battery. This may take up to 2 days.

Once everything is installed, the team will give you a handover, showing you how to use the app and monitor the system. You will begin generating solar energy from day one!

Scaffolding will usually come down within 3 days. Mark will update you with an ETA.

Within 14 days you will receive your MCS and electrical certificates. You will also receive your DNO approval when ready, and then you can use all these documents to apply to your energy provider for SEG payments.

If required, you are welcome to schedule a follow up call with Benji, to help you with any operational queries.

There are some grants available for homeowners, but they are generally very difficult to qualify for. Usually you must be on some form of benefits and have an all-electric home (ie no gas) as examples of qualification criteria.

There are also lots of funding opportunities for businesses looking to go green. This can be at governmental level, or local council level. These grants and funding opportunities open and close frequently so it’s always worth checking before you make the investment.
